# Visualise a Database

> Inspect database structure, tables, relationships, queries, and data from the Pxxl workspace.

The **Visualise** section gives you a live view of a database without installing a database client in your application container.

## Available views

| View | Use it for |
| - | - |
| **Structure** | Inspect schemas, tables, columns, indexes, and keys. |
| **Data** | Browse records in a selected table. |
| **Query** | Run an approved query against the selected database. |
| **ERD** | See tables and relationships as a diagram. |
| **History** | Review recent console or query activity. |
| **Import and export** | Move supported data in or out of the database workspace. |

The exact views depend on the database engine and your plan.

## Safe workflow

<Steps>
  <Step title="Start with Structure">
    Confirm the schema, table names, indexes, and relationships before inspecting records.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Use Data for a small sample">
    Browse only the rows needed for the investigation. Avoid exporting production data unnecessarily.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Use Query carefully">
    Review a query before running it, especially when it can update or delete records.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Use migrations for repeatable changes">
    Store schema changes in your repository so every environment can be recreated consistently.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Visualise is an inspection and operations tool. It does not replace migrations, backups, access reviews, or a dedicated database client for advanced workflows.

## Access and credentials

The database connection is opened using the instance's managed connection path. Open [Connection](/database/connection) when you need to review the endpoint or credentials, and [Settings](/database/settings) when you need to control the instance lifecycle.
