# Regions

> Choose where Pxxl runs your project.

Pxxl regions let you run a project closer to the people using it. Select a region during deployment based on location and availability.

## Available regions

| Region | Slug | Location | Runtime servers | Status |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| Europe Central | `eu-central` | Nuremberg, Germany | Orion | Enabled and default |
| Europe West | `eu-west` | Paris, France | Pulsar | Enabled |
| Europe North | `eu-north` | Helsinki and Copenhagen | Titan, Nova | Enabled. Titan is online. Nova is decommissioned. |

<Note>
  New projects use **Europe Central** unless another enabled region is selected.
</Note>

## Choose a region

Choose the enabled region closest to most of your users. This can reduce request latency and keep your project near the services it communicates with.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open build configuration">
    Start a deployment and continue to **Build Configuration**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select a region">
    Choose Europe Central, Europe West, or Europe North. If you make no selection, Pxxl uses Europe Central.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Deploy">
    Review the remaining project settings, then deploy. Pxxl schedules the runtime on an available server in the selected region.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Region slugs

Use the region slug when a deployment option, API request, SDK method, or CLI command asks for a region.

```text theme={null}
eu-central
eu-west
eu-north
```

The slug selects the region, not an individual runtime server. Pxxl chooses an available server inside that region.

## Runtime availability

* **Orion** serves Europe Central.
* **Pulsar** serves Europe West.
* **Titan** is the active Europe North runtime.
* **Nova** is decommissioned and does not receive new deployments.

If a region is temporarily unavailable, choose another enabled region before deploying. Changing a project to another region requires a new deployment.
